Nepal receives GAVI award for outstanding performance in improving child health and immunisation

At the GAVI Alliance Partners’ Forum in Hanoi on November 19, 2009, Nepal was one of two countries to receive awards for the highest average annual rate of reduction of child mortality among all of the 72 GAVI countries since 1990.
Julian Lob Levyt, CEO of the GAVI Alliance, HRH Princess Christina of Spain, a member of GAVI's Every Child Council, and Hon Mary Robinson, Chair of the GAVI board and President of MLI lead partner organization, Realizing Rights, presented the award to Nepal's Minister of Health and Population, Honorable Umakanta Chaudhary.
